TARTAN MANIA

I cannot think about any of my favorite designers who has not, at some point , fallen in love with the timeless red and green check pattern.
This season Chanel leads the obsession with the Pre-Fall Paris-Edimburg collection, inspired by muse and actress Tilda Swinton, here photographed against medieval tapestries, ornamental jewelry and clutches.
Think about Ralph Lauren, who revisited for many seasons the green and navy version setting them together with washed jeans shirts, leather jailers and heavy silver belt buckles: not to forget his unmistakable edge on the home decoration he has initiated since the early nineties, which is still over the top in the industry.
A ruffle taffetas shirt worn with a tight fitting riders black velvet jacket (and hat- rigorously on blonde model with innocent pony tail!)
...Or Vivienne Westwood who madly interpreted evening gowns with a thousand of tulle underskirts layering an impalpable volume on sexy corsets.
And what about Burberry? I have a super-vintage pair of mules in green and mustard, I would say nothing special compared to "the" unmistakable beige and burgundy check they use in all linings.
We will all agree the most modern and agreeable look to wear as soon as it chills, is definitively Céline ..The delicate red and navy checks are woven on ultra light wools, coats and maxi-tunics, to match with super comfortable shoes, wearable on jeans or mini flare dresses.
The highland prints heritage keeps on rocking: who is gonna be next?!!!
